Cielo Nuñez Galindo

Cielo has always been exceptionally intelligent and creative.  No surprise, she graduated at the top of her high school class.  Cielo indicated that she wanted to study medicine.  The best school for medicine in Santa Cruz is a private school.  To get in, you have to take an exceedingly difficult test.  The tuition alone is also approximately $4000 a year.  There is one scholarship offered a year.  ONE.  You have to get the top mark on the entrance test to get it.  And it is only a partial scholarship in that it covers only half of the tuition, but not materials, room, board, and transportation.  Cielo earned the highest mark on the entrance exam!  She won the scholarship.  The problem was even with her mom working as a teacher and her dad as an electrician, they could not afford to pay all of the expenses required for the next 5 years of medical school.

Fully convinced that Cielo is going to be an excellent student and doctor, KTF accepted Cielo into the Proyecto Oportunidad program and is paying the difference owed for her tuition.  Cielo is currently in her first year and, like all first-year medical students, she lives and breathes her studies!  But Cielo loves it.  Her name means “heaven” in Spanish, and we at KTF believe that with Cielo’s abundant talent and drive, the sky really is the limit for her!

“The Mission Keep the Faith is a complete blessing for me because it enables me to fulfill my dreams.  The Mission inspires me to always do better, to show that I will most definitely make the most of this incredible opportunity.  I am very conscientious of the fact that everything I receive from the Mission I will return by serving others in the future with joy.”
