Shirley Condori Choque

Shirley grew up in the orphanage Hogar Sagrado Corazon. As a child, she always had the widest and brightest smile.  Wonderfully, that signature smile has never left Shirley.

From an early age, it was clear that Shirley was a gifted musician.  She could sing beautifully and she could play several instruments.

When she graduated from high school, her dream was to become a music teacher.  Casa Nuevo Horizonte gladly took her in so that she could fulfill her dream.

However, to enter the music school, Shirley had to pass a complicated test in which she had to play several instruments that she did not know how to use.  We purchased the instruments for her and she studied day and night on how to play them.

And then Shirley Condori passed that test!  She began her studies to become a music teacher at last.

While living in Casa Nuevo Horizonte, Shirley was the sweet older sister, especially to Karen and Julio, our two youngest students in the house.  Shirley never complained about her chores, always went the extra mile, and always lit up the room with her serenity and sweetness.  She really does love music, all kinds of music.  Shirley even writes her own songs!

After Shirley graduated from university, she had numerous job offers as a music teacher. She loves teaching music!

A few years into her teaching career, Shirley had an opportunity to spend a year in Germany as a volunteer in a home for handicapped adults. She loved the work, and the residents loved her.

Shirley has since returned to Bolivia, and is lworking as a music teacher. But she got bit by the travel bug! She is currently studying English in hopes of being able to take a 28 week English course in Ireland.

Shirley Condori – a girl who grew up in an orphanage is now a musician, a teacher, a world traveler, and, above all, a person always striving to develop her talents to the fullest!

“For me, Mission Keep the Faith is everything. It enabled me to have a career in an area that I love. Through the Mission, I also learned to become a lifelong learner and to be a woman of service. The Mission has opened many doors for me. I teach my students music but also values, just like the Mission did for me with so great love.”
